Hey! I'm Melissa! I am currently in the middle of my 3rd year teaching. I taught 1st grade my first year, and this is my second year in 5th Grade. I was really nervous about moving to 5th Grade because I enjoyed 1st so much, but I actually love 5th just as much in different ways. I enjoy getting to dive more deeply into the content in 5th Grade, and I even like those quirky personalities 5th Graders have :) I teach Math, Social Studies, Writing, Grammar, and Science. I absolutely LOVE teaching 5th Grade Math and Social Studies!!! I spend most of my time trying to find new and exciting ways to teach my students. I am a NASP certified Archery Instructor (Random huh?) and also currently working toward getting my Master's Degree in Educational Technology at WKU.
I have also had a huge change in my life this past year when I had my baby girl, Miss Kenna Briar, on July 29, 2014! I don't know how I lived for 25 years without her :) She and my wonderful husband, Matt, are the most important people in my life. I am so thankful to have a great family, and a wonderful career; both of which I am very proud of. I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures as a first time mom trying to be that difference in my students' lives.
